ARCH 380 - Climate Action Design Studio

Portland State University
Course description

The main goal of this design studio is to guide students through the steps of architecture design from the primary step of problem recognition to the problem-solving via suitable spatial configuration. Meanwhile, the studio project is focused on understanding the natural order as well as the causes and effects of climate change and our responsibility to practice wisely and innovatively. This design studio calls for designing a memorial for hundreds of thousands of acres of trees burned in West Coast Wildfires in 2020. This memorial should serve as a museum for raising awareness about the causes and effects of climate change.

This studio requires students to investigate the subject of the design project and relevant design theory and advance student's problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and creativity.
